At Gobena, we are passionate about everyone's ability to Go Make a Difference. One way to do this is by drinking GREAT coffee for a GREAT cause. Our coffee beans are purchased fresh and in season directly from the farmer. For example, when our Colombian partner harvests their coffee and finishes the drying process, we import the dried green coffee beans as soon as possible. Once the beans arrive, we small batch roast them. We believe that beans are roasted to bring out their original flavor, as each bean has different flavor notes and requires different roast temperatures and times. Roasting in small batches allows us to roast each bean to its full potential.

Our coffee is roasted on a Joper Roaster, manufactured in Canelas, Portugal. Joper has been making roasters since 1962 and is proud to combine the genuine quality of the European Old World with the most recent technology. Joper symbolizes performance, quality, and value, giving roasters like Gobena a competitive advantage. All of our coffee is roasted and packed the same day.

100% of Gobena's profit goes to helping orphaned and vulnerable children throughout the world. Gobena partners with Lifesong for Orphans to work with at-risk children and young adults. This mission began in the summer of 2007 in Ethiopia, when an elderly farmer named Gobena found and rescued an abandoned baby girl near his home. Gobena and his wife cared for her for over four weeks, but soon realized she needed more support. They carried her 5 miles to town where she was given food and shelter. This baby girl, named Eva, was adopted by a loving family from Illinois, who were inspired to start Gobena Coffee, where 100% of the net profits are given to Lifesong for Orphans.
